You wake up in the morning, look in the mirror and don’t like what you see. When you open your wardrobe, several pieces of clothing come tumbling out, but you have no idea what to wear. You always buy the latest fashion, but somehow the clothes that look great on the models, don’t look nearly as well on you.

If you recognize yourself in this description, read on. I’ll tell you how you can become one of those women who always seem to look their best. I’ll tell you how you can develop your own style. It’s easier than you think.

Learn from others

First, look at women whose style you admire. What kind of clothes do they wear? How do they wear their hair? You’ll probably notice that they often wear colours of the same palette. Maybe they wear mainly black. Or maybe they wear clothes in warm, earthy colours. Their style may be either sophisticated, sporty, extravagant or sexy – but not a mix of styles. You can learn much from just looking at how these women dress.

Look at yourself

However, don’t even think of just copying them. First stop and look at yourself as if you were someone else. What’s the colour of your hair, your eyes, your skin? What do you like about your body and what not? Maybe you’ve got beautiful eyes, but you hate your butt. If this is the case, you should find a way to draw attention to your eyes, so people won’t notice your big butt.

Know how to look great

Now that you know what the natural you looks like, it’s time to think of what you can do to look your very best. Not just for once, but always. First, you need to know which colours look good on you. As a rule of thumb, dark colours look well on people with dark hair and dark eyes, and light colours look well on people with light hair and light eyes. A colour analysis might be a great tool to find your colour type. Once you know your colour type, you will know which colours you can wear, and which you should avoid. A body shape analysis is helpful when you want to decide on what kind of clothes look well on you. Finally the shape of your face determines what haircut makes you look your very best. Always.

Your Basic Wardrobe

Once you know what to wear and what to avoid, you’ll need to get your basics. You know, the clothes you really need in your wardrobe. For example, every woman needs at least one dress – even if she’s always been a tomboy. Some plain t-shirts in your colour palette, a shirt, and a pair of trousers, e.g. But remember, what your basics are, depends largely on what kind of person you are. It’s no use buying ten different dresses if you’re uncomfortable wearing a dress.

Your personal style

Once you’ve got your basics, you can add accessories, jewellery and all kinds of other extras to define your personal style. Jewellery, shoes, hats, scarves, gloves, belts, handbags… if chosen wisely, they’ll all reflect your personality. They’ll tell people who you are.

And here’s the best thing: once you’ve developed your own style, you’ll never stand in front of your wardrobe wondering what to wear anymore, because you’ll know what to wear. And all your clothes look good on you, because they’re the right colour and the right fit for you.
